Winter trips were meant to be enjoyed at Southern California's only four season alpine resort. It's just a short drive away to get out of the city and into the snow! Relax at your lodge or play hard on the slopes.
Inner Tubing Family Fun: Children who visit Big Bear Lake can experience the thrill of inner tubing down snow packed slopes, which are specifically designed for good times. Parents too, can relive their youthful days and glide down the smooth vertical incline for a fun-filled ride. Tubing is the ultimate outdoor family outing that creates memories that last a lifetime.
Snowshoe Trips: Taking a trek into the open country via snowshoes or cross-country skis is one of the best ways to enjoy the true bliss of Big Bear Lake's picturesque winter scenery. Springtime in Big Bear is a refreshing time of year with wildflowers in bloom, the scent of fresh pine trees and joyous songs sung by a variety of resident birds. This is the time of year to get out and explore the trails by foot, mountain bike, or horseback.
Big Bear trails are abundant in the San Bernardino National Forest, most notable being the Pacific Crest Trail. The trails in the Big Bear region offer expansive views of the forest, wildlife and valley floor. Most trailheads are easily accessible and lead hikers to summits with outstanding panoramic views. The pristine, blue lake is thriving with thousands of hungry rainbow trout. Springtime is the ideal time fishing. You can throw just about anything in your tackle box at the fish and they will bite! Anglers are known for catching their limits in springtime. If you really want to get a handle on where the fish are biting take a guided fishing charter. If you just want to relax and take in the beauty of Big Bear Lake you might want to rent a pontoon boat or take a tour on one of Big Bear's tour boats. Nature enthusiasts and photographers have the benefit of capturing the essence of a wide assortment of wildflowers that bloom throughout the valley and the surrounding national forest. The Big Bear Discovery Center offers wildflower tours from April to June. Whatever your choice might be for spring recreation in Big Bear, one thing for certain is you will be rejuvenated and inspired.
